Our Philosophy
The Indie motto: Create, collaborate, celebrate.
Nice words, but what do they mean? At Indie Ink we think they say everything about how the creative world will unfold in the next decade. The old model is dying; its carcass huddling inward upon itself, licking its mortal wounds and surrounding itself with the trusted and familiar. Not a bad strategy if you're a dying behemoth, nor does it hurt established artists – at least, not until the beast begins to thrash about in its final delerium – but what about emerging artists?
Well, who do you think poisoned the old goat in the first place? As we see it, the new economy allows talented young artists to keep a lot more creative control over their careers, their art and their futures. The flip side, of course, is that we artists have more burdens to bear, and we run a greater risk of trying to do it all by ourselves. Indie Ink thinks that we need to resist that trap by working together, sharing the labours of creating new works, of getting them into the hands of our potential audiences, and then reveling together in the communities that we build around ourselves. Creating. Collaborating. Celebrating. Makes sense, no?
We don't want to be just your publisher, or just your distributor. We want to be your creative partner – helping you to figure out how to get where you're going, providing the tools and expertise for the parts you don't know how to do, and learning from you about the parts you do. We're not here to tell you about your audience or your material. You probably know more about them than we do – after all, it's your world, right? Think of us as your backup band. You call the tunes and we'll fill in the gaps.
